Residential Rates

Electricity

The rate you pay for electricity is based on the type of service you receive. Most residences, farms and small businesses are charged under Rate A for single-phase electric service (last revised, June 2007.)

The bill is made up of three parts: Generation, Transmission and Distribution Services (including State Excise Tax) as follows:

Natural Gas

As of April 1, 2008 the current charge for 1 CCF of natural gas is $1.4403.

Price for Equivalent Fuel

If you were replacing one of the following fuels with natural gas purchased from CERC, you would be paying the following:

Propane $1.36 per gallon
Heating Oil $2.07 per gallon

By virtue of CERC's nature as a member-owned utility, we are not required to participate in the competitive natural gas market. However, the information is useful if you are interested in keeping track of how CERC rates compare to the rest of the marketplace.

For an accurate comparison, read the PUCO chart carefully for terms and conditions of the offers and whether they include tax.
